PHILOSOPHY

For me clay is the ideal material. No other material offers so many different possibilities for the modelling of objects: clay is soft and remains malleable over a considerable period of time; it allows the artist to add and to take away until the form finds his approval; and it can be hardened finally during the firing process into a permanent work of art. One of mankindís oldest working materials, clay has been used since time immemorial for the production of archaic household vessels and cultic objects and is nowadays often the base material of modern sculptures. With the use of various firing and surface-modelling techniques objects can be given the most diverse of characteristics.
